What does Dr Pepper Cherry taste like?

Dr Pepper's own product page describes it as "a kiss of cherry" that makes it "the smoothest Dr Pepper ever", and the March 2009 launch announcement called it a blend that "combines the great taste of Dr Pepper with the perfect amount of cherry flavor." The label backs up the "same base, more cherry" idea: the ingredients are the ones in regular Dr Pepper plus sodium phosphate, the cherry lives inside the natural and artificial flavors line, and a can carries 3 g more sugar than the original. A short history of Dr Pepper Cherry

Dr Pepper announced Dr Pepper Cherry on March 24, 2009, saying it was "now available nationwide in both regular and diet", and introduced it with a TV spot starring KISS front man Gene Simmons that aired from March 30, 2009. The diet can did not last into the current lineup. On April 19, 2021, Keurig Dr Pepper launched Dr Pepper Zero Sugar nationwide in Original, Cherry and Cream Soda flavors, and Cherry Zero Sugar is now the sugar-free cherry can on drpepper.com.
