Dr Pepper Cherry Zero Sugar
The cherry Dr Pepper with zero sugar and zero calories, and the can Dr Pepper now points Diet Cherry fans toward.

Dr Pepper Cherry Zero Sugar is the zero sugar version of Dr Pepper Cherry, launched nationwide in April 2021, and it is the can Dr Pepper now sells in place of Diet Cherry Dr Pepper. A 12 fl oz can has 0 calories, 0 g of sugar, 60 mg of sodium and 41 mg of caffeine, and it is sweetened with aspartame and acesulfame potassium. Those figures are Keurig Dr Pepper's own product facts, checked October 7, 2026.
Cherry Zero Sugar takes the original 23-flavor blend, adds cherry, and swaps the sugar for sweeteners. Think of it as the sugar-free twin of Dr Pepper Cherry, which has 160 calories and 42 g of sugar a can, and the cherry cousin of Dr Pepper Zero Sugar. Keurig Dr Pepper's product facts list it under its label name, Dr Pepper Zero Sugar Cherry. Last verified against Keurig Dr Pepper's product facts on October 7, 2026.
Is Cherry Zero the same as Diet Cherry?
It is the successor rather than the same can. Diet Dr Pepper Cherry launched with the regular cherry can in March 2009 and is no longer in the drpepper.com lineup. On April 19, 2021, Keurig Dr Pepper launched Dr Pepper Zero Sugar nationwide in Original, Cherry and Cream Soda flavors, and Dr Pepper's own page introduces Cherry Zero Sugar as "the delicious taste you loved from Diet Cherry, now brought to life with the same smooth blend of cherry and Dr Pepper Zero Sugar."
The difference you can read off a label is the sweetener. Keurig Dr Pepper's current panels list aspartame alone in Diet Dr Pepper, and aspartame plus acesulfame potassium in the Zero Sugar cans, Cherry included. I have not found a current label for Diet Cherry itself, so the table below leaves its cells blank rather than guess.

Per 12 fl oz. Current rows are Keurig Dr Pepper's product facts. A sugar-free cherry can that is still branded Diet does exist, but it has vanilla in it: Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper, sold in select areas.
What does Cherry Zero Sugar taste like next to regular Cherry?
Dr Pepper pitches it as "the smooth cherry treat you deserve", built on the same cherry blend. The ingredient lists support that: Keurig Dr Pepper's labels for Cherry and Cherry Zero Sugar name the same carbonated water, caramel color, natural and artificial flavors, sodium benzoate, phosphoric acid, caffeine and sodium phosphate. The only swap is the sweetener, high fructose corn syrup in the regular can and aspartame with acesulfame potassium in the Zero Sugar can. The labels cannot show whether the flavor blends are identical, since “natural and artificial flavors” covers whatever mix each can uses, but the one difference they do show is the sweetener and the missing 42 g of sugar.
